ADVICE TO THOSE WANTING TO GET INTO THE MAKEUP INDUSTRY?
Firstly, establish what aspect of this industry you want to flourish in. To do this, it’s all about volunteering and testing. I would do fashion shows, photo shoots, complimentary makeups, tv and film work, all for little or no pay, just so I could see which aspect of makeup inspired me the most.
Once I founded myself aligned with event makeup and photo shoots, I targeted influential people or businesses within that industry and worked for free. Not only did this get my name out there and bring in engagement to my profile, most importantly I was learning. Learning about how to communicate, on set etiquette, how to deal with timing restraints etc. If you build this up on a pro bono basis, you are able to ask questions and make mistakes. Because once you are getting paid full rates for work, there is now a standard you have to meet.
Don’t view free work as a loss of money, view it as free training and experience, which is priceless. Extra exposure is just the cherry on top!
Once you feel like you are ready, get in there and hustle hustle. I look back on times where I worked a full time job and was hustling before and after work and all weekend. I was so burnt it out but the motivation of building my own business made it so worth it and I honestly could not be happier now.

WORDS TO LIVE BY?
'If you obsess over whether you are making the right decision, you are basically assuming that the universe will reward you for one thing and punish you for another.
The universe has no fixed agenda. Once you make any decision, it works around that decision. There is no right or wrong, only a series of possibilities that shift with each thought, feeling, and action that you experience.'
